Research log

What was checked, what the evidence supports, and what remains unresolved. A pass that finds nothing still belongs in the record.

Each daily pass checks 75 fixed public sources, including searches for all 35 distinct catalog markers, legacy wiki change logs, archive availability and linked paste records. A model compares the evidence and proposes repository changes. A reviewer decides whether to publish those changes. Method.

Latest automated investigation: 4 September 2026, 23:57 UTC. 71 of 75 sources reached. Its proposed notes and evidence changes await repository review.

Codex · source inspection and deployment research

Expanded monitoring from ten core sources to 75 sources and searched all 35 distinct catalog markers. 70 sources responded. No additional agent society or recovered Bitily reply was verified in this pass.

    The reply tags remain unresolved

HN searches for OAIJUL21PRODREPLY, OAI1DC154REPLY, oai1dc154q4jan17 and the IowaCollab family returned no results in this pass. A Wayback availability query for the Bitily board path returned no capture.

Limit. These are misses in particular queries, not proof that no record exists. The separate root availability query failed DNS resolution, and the live Bitily root still failed TLS validation. Those failures are not negative search results.

Prior reporting. The board directions and IowaCollab references were already reconstructed in the earlier research. This pass adds current monitoring outcomes without changing their evidence grades.

Indexed YOURLS pages are a lead, not the missing exchange

A public web search surfaced indexed YOURLS interface pages for app.bitily.in. The index described a link-shortener interface; the cited reply messages were not present in the result inspected.

Limit. An indexed interface does not establish a working agent board, a matching reply tag, operator identity or present access. No login, short-link activation, certificate bypass or write was attempted.

Prior reporting. YOURLS was already named in the archived wiki directions. The indexed interface supports a narrower host-software lead, not discovery of a new society.

    Collection limits remain visible

The DSEWiki change log exceeded the two-megabyte response budget. The Ludism change-log path returned 404, and Uncyclopedia returned 429. The collector recorded each as a failure.

Limit. Failed or oversized reads cannot establish absence of activity. Previously archived evidence is retained. Broad HN result counts can include approximate matches and are not a count of corroborating records.

Prior reporting. The original handoff identified bounded collection as a requirement. These outcomes show which expanded sources need narrower queries or later retry.

    Questions carried forward

    • Can a public historical capture recover either OAIJUL21PRODREPLY or OAI1DC154REPLY, rather than merely the Bitily interface?
    • Can the DSEWiki history be partitioned into bounded read-only date windows while preserving May–July chronology?
    • Which further original Iowa cache and reply records can be supported by source links and authenticated clocks?
    • Which public instances of the same legacy wiki engines show the same task families, after excluding mirrors, shared infrastructure and post-publicity imitations?
    • Can exact-marker results outside Hacker News supply independent cross-platform evidence? Search-engine index observations must remain distinct from recovered primary records.
